Certiport’s Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) is an ideal certification for anyone who wants to demonstrate critical computer and Internet skills valued in today’s academic and professional environments.
About the Certification
IC³ is the world’s first certification program for digital literacy and the most commonly recognized standard of digital literacy today. IC3 strives to test your students on their understanding of how computers work and why that’s important for their careers.
To become IC³ certified, you must pass all of the following three exams:
- Part A: Computing Fundamental: Computer Hardware, Computer Software, Operating System, Mobile, Cloud Computing and Security.
- Part B: Key Applications: Word Processor, Presentation, Spreadsheet, Database, and Graphics
- Part C: Living Online: Internet, Electronic Mail, and Social Media.
Part A: Computing Fundamental
The IC3 Part A Certification exam consists of the following topics:
- Mobile Devices: Using cell phones, voicemail, SMS, and notification features of mobile devices.
- Hardware: Inside of a computer, the device types, storage, networking, Wi-Fi, platforms, compatibility.
- Computer Software Architecture: Operating System, setting preferences, user account, file management, folder navigation, software installation, troubleshoot, backup, and restore files.
- Cloud Computing: Basics of cloud computing and web apps.
- Security: Security credentials, Anti-virus, firewalls, and e-commerce safety.
Part B: Key Applications – Word Processor, Presentation & Spreadsheet
The IC3 Part B Certification exam consists of the following topics related to key applications:
- Common Application Features: Shortcuts, reviewing, viewing, selecting, cutting, copying, and pasting text and images.
- Word Processing: Formatting document, its layout, font, saving the changes, printing a file, working with tables, combining text and pictures, creating flyers and professional documents.
- Presentations: Managing slides, adding effects, creating animation, and adding text and pictures.
- Spreadsheets: Formatting cell & column, printing spreadsheet, adding formula, and creating a chart.
- Databases: Basic concepts of storing data in a database.
- Graphics: Using graphic tools to edit an image.
Part C: Living Online: Networks, Internet and E-mail
The IC3 Part C Certification exam consists of the following topics related to Living Online:
- Computer Network, Internet Basic, & Email: Basic features of computer networks and the Internet, components, and benefits of networked computers, using the Internet for research, and sending and receiving emails.
- Internet Navigation: Navigating the Internet, using the search feature, understanding common terms, and license to use.
- Email: Using the basic features of an email application to send and receive emails, email etiquette, email management, attachments, and managing contacts.
- Social Media: Digital identity, site types, and cyberbullying.
- Communication: Using communication tools for using SMS and online chat, online conferencing, and streaming.
- Digital principles & ethics: Using technology for personal versus professional use.
